50-50 Charity Raffle Raises Over $76,000 - A Club Record
8 November 2024
The ever popular 50-50 Charity Raffle was well supported by racegoers throughout the 2024 Ladbrokes Spring Racing Carnival, raising an astonishing $76,066 across the five racedays.
The well-known not-for-profit fundraiser splits the total amount per fundraising event with 50% going to the nominated charity of the day. The remaining 50% is won by a lucky ticketholder.
$36,113 was raised on Canadian Club Melbourne Cup Raceday alone, setting a new club record in the process.
The record previously belonged to the 2022 Melbourne Cup Raceday.
The Rotary Club of Hamilton were the beneficiaries of a record donation from the 2024 Melbourne Cup Raceday fundraiser, and Troy H was the lucky winner of the pool’s raffle portion.
The charities supported this spring season include Community Canteen, The Pyjama Foundation, Samford Riding for the Disabled, and Meals on Wheels Queensland.
The $76,066 Spring Carnival total also surpassed the total funds raised during this year’s The Star Stradbroke Season.
The 50-50 Charity Raffles is one of the many ways the BRC Foundation demonstrates its commitment to supporting communities, charity organisations, and local groups throughout Queensland.
Since 2018, the Brisbane Racing Club has raised almost $860,000 through 50-50 fundraisers.
The BRC Foundation and wider Brisbane Racing Club community are humbled by the generosity of racegoers who purchased raffle tickets throughout the Carnival.
