The Brisbane Racing Club is deeply saddened by the passing of former long-serving Eagle Farm racecourse manager and starter Alan Shuck. Shuck, 83, passed on Thursday morning after a short illness.

He worked at Eagle Farm overseeing the Eagle Farm tracks and also starting all races from 1980 to his retirement in 2002. "Alan was a tireless worker, a passionate racing person and a great servant of the racing industry in Queensland over a long period, including many years at the Ipswich turf club before coming to Eagle Farm." Brisbane Racing Club Chairman Neville Bell said.

"The Shuck family name will always hold a special place in racing through the deeds of Alan and later his son Bill at Eagle Farm."
