BRC wins National Major Event Award for Stradbroke Season 2022

Brisbane Racing Club’s Stradbroke Season 2022 has been named the Meeting & Events Australia (MEA) National Winner of the Award for Major Event or Festival held in 2021-2022.

The Award was made on Thursday (8 June) at a Gala Dinner at The Star Gold Coast, following the MEA’s two-day annual conference, EVOLVE 2023.

Last month, BRC was named Queensland State Award winner of the 2021-2022 Major Event or Festival of the Year and was considered for the National Award along with all other State winners in the category.

The MEA Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements and expertise of individuals and organisations in the events sector, rewarding excellence, creativity and professionalism in the design, management, delivery, servicing and advancement of the events industry in Australia.

BRC Chief Executive Officer Tony Partridge said the National Award was a tribute to the value of BRC’s annual and Queensland’s premier Group racing event and to the dedication of the BRC teams who deliver it each year.

“Receiving this national recognition is an honour and especially in the lead-up to tomorrow’s The Star Stradbroke Day, the grand finale of our 2023 season,” Mr Partridge said.

“Last year our teams had to overcome adversity, with Doomben 10,000 Day transferred to Eagle Farm and racing rescheduled following the loss of Doomben Cup Day due to torrential rain.

“Our teams subsequently delivered a Super Saturday of Group racing on Derby Day and a spectacular Oaks Day and Stradbroke Day.

“This year the weather has been on our side and The Star Stradbroke Season has, to date, been a resounding success.

“We are looking forward tomorrow to delivering another spectacular day of racing, fine food and Brisbane’s best event hospitality for a fitting finale to this year’s Stradbroke Season.”
