QRIC Stewards Move to Eagle Farm Racecourse

Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards have commenced working out of a new administrative office recently fit out for purpose at Eagle Farm Racecourse. 

QRIC Commissioner Ross Barnett said the Brisbane metropolitan stewards will work from the track like many of their regional colleagues who carry out their administrative duties from the track.

“In a partnership with the Brisbane Racing Club, the QRIC has worked to bring this plan to fruition and refurbishment work has been completed in an office situated inside the Eagle Farm stabling complex.”

Chief Thoroughbred Steward Peter Chadwick said he looked forward to having a Brisbane track base for himself and the Brisbane stewarding team.

“The stewards will now have an on-track base from which to communicate with racing industry participants,” he said.

“A presence at the track and stables will be an advantage to Stewards and to participants keeping in mind that social distancing will remain the norm throughout the pandemic.” 

BRC chairman Neville Bell said the Brisbane Racing Club is happy to welcome QRIC stewards to a permanent local base at the Eagle Farm In-Field Stables Complex.

“Approximately 500 horses are trained each day at Eagle Farm and Doomben with 430 horses trained by Queensland’s leading trainers who are stabled on-course at Eagle Farm,” he said.

“The new full-time office at Eagle Farm will facilitate a better working relationship between Eagle Farm trainers and QRIC stewards.”
