BRC's Westfield Chermside Fashions on the Field ‘springs’ into the digital age
Monday, 19 October 2020
Brisbane Racing Club has transformed the iconic Westfield Chermside Fashions on the Field into a modern photography based competition at this year’s Brisbane Spring Racing Carnival presented by Lexus.
‘The Westfield Chermside Podium’ was launched on Saturday at Lexus Ladies Day and will be featured on the three remaining days of the Carnival at Doomben Racecourse.
Teaming up with fashion photographers fashion entrants are invited to have photographs taken of their outfit with the final photos submitted to the judges on the day.
The new digital format speeds up the usual Fashions on the Field process, taking only a few minutes for entrants to participate before going on to enjoy the live local races, interstate action on superscreens around course, all-day entertainment and bespoke pop-up bars & eateries.
Finalists will be selected and welcomed back to showcase their outfits in the new Village Green precinct with an overall winner to be announced.
This new format is a tried and tested Fashions on the Field model, most recently used at the Australian Turf Club Fashion Chute and the Melbourne Racing Club Style Stakes.
Moving towards the digital space for the fashion community comes as a natural step for the BRC after the hugely successful #FashionAtYourPlace competition. Over three Saturdays during the winter racing carnival, fashionistas were able to showcase their exquisite racewear and use the hashtag on their Instagram posts for the chance to win great prizes.
